Asbury Park, New Jerey

I'm not looking for Bruce Springsteen but for some minor history of Asbury Park.  Does anyone have any information about a Bamberger's store being on the boardwalk in Asbury Park in the 1940's?  I certainly don't remember that but was told recently that it did exist.  I remember Steinbachs, but not on the "boards".  Anybody?
